Horse Spot Expands to Support More Event & Show Disciplines

One Platform, Every Discipline: Horse Spot Opens Its Stride

We built Horse Spot for one reason: equestrians deserved better software. Not a tool borrowed from another industry and patched to fit. Something purpose-built by people who have worked the in-gate, filed the paperwork, and stayed up late reconciling entries the night before a show.

Since launching in 2023, we've supported over 1.8k horse shows across 45 states and three countries, working across more than twenty disciplines. And we're not done expanding.

We've added new entry formats designed to fit the real operational needs of rodeos, scholastic competitions, and stock horse events. Whether you're running a local open show or an FEI-level competition, we've built the tools to handle it.

Here's what's new, and a hint at what's coming next.

Why one platform for every discipline matters

If you've managed events across multiple disciplines, you already know the problem. A dressage test, a jumper round, and a barrel race don't just ride differently. They have to be run differently, scored differently, and accept entries in different formats.

For years, that meant organizers either stitched together multiple tools or fell back on spreadsheets depending on the event type. Neither option was good enough. Also, that meant if you ran a variety of discipline shows, you had to select different solutions or platforms.

Our goal has always been straightforward: one platform that organizers can use to run any type of event, at any level, in any discipline. Hunter/jumper, breed, dressage, eventing, combined training, combined driving, western, ranch, stock horse, and rodeo. They all belong here. When you're not switching systems, you're spending more time on your event and less time on your software.

What new entry formats does Horse Spot now support?

Entry formats are the foundation of a well-run competition, and no two disciplines handle them the same way. We built flexibility into the system from the start, and the latest updates take that even further.

Stock entries for rodeo and western events

Rodeos don't run like hunter/jumper shows. A key difference is the stock draw, where animals are assigned to contestants shortly before the competition. We now support stock entries natively, so organizers can manage these events within the same platform they use for everything else. We're excited to offer a platform that's robust enough for organizers yet user-friendly for exhibitors, and we're excited to expand to support even more of the horse and western community.

Rodeo entry formats

Rodeo has its own structure: event categories, contestant counts, and stock assignments. We've expanded our support so rodeo organizers can manage entries, classes, and results in a tool that actually fits how rodeo works. We're serious about serving every corner of this sport, and rodeo is a big part of that commitment.

College and scholastic competitions have their own unique structure, much like rodeo. In formats like the one used by the IHSA or IEA, host schools provide the horses, and riders draw their mounts at random. This model, similar in spirit to a rodeo draw, makes the sport more accessible by removing the cost of horse ownership but requires a very specific approach to entries and draws.

Scholastic-style draw formats

We have deep roots in collegiate equestrian sport with IDA, AEE, and NCEA, supporting all intercollegiate associations. We served as the official technology platform for the 2025 NCEA National Championships and the official tech sponsor for the 2025 IHSA National Championship. We've expanded our scholastic-style entry support to serve this vital community segment.

Supporting Organizations and Associations

We are proud to offer robust support for organizations by hosting memberships and providing a seamless platform to track membership points across diverse events and event hosts. Our adaptable membership formats are designed to meet the unique needs of all types, sizes, and disciplines of organizations. Whether it's a small local club or a large national association, our tools enable efficient management and scoring, ensuring organizations can focus on growth and engagement within their communities.

How does Horse Spot handle different scoring needs?

Getting entries right is only half the job. Scoring is just as discipline-specific, and we've been expanding here to support those needs as well.

We introduced dressage scoring with ready-made tests from the FEI and USDF, plus the ability to upload your own tests and patterns. Secretaries can set the number of movements, choose score types, add directives, and select test of choice or qualifying tests. Live scoring has moved fully out of beta, with ringside views that push real-time results to spectators on http://Horsespot.net .

"We've worked closely with breed organizations and event hosts to identify their unique needs and have expanded our capabilities to support them. From Olympic formats to breed-specific events, as well as USEF, USDF, and USHJA standards, we've ensured our platform can adapt to the diverse demands of all the amazing disciplines and event styles of the equestrian community." – Michael Lenard

Flexible entries paired with flexible scoring. That's what makes the "one platform for every discipline" promise actually hold up when you're standing in the show office at 6 a.m.

Something exciting is on the horizon

The new entry formats, especially stock entries and rodeo support, are not just about broadening the list of what we support. They're laying the groundwork for what's coming next.

If you're part of the rodeo or youth equestrian community, stay close. What you're seeing today is a preview of something bigger, and we can't wait to share what we've been hiding under our hat.

What this means for event and show organizers

You don't need a different platform for every type of event you run. Here's what that means in practice:

  • Run more event types in one place. Hunter/jumper, dressage, eventing, western, ranch, stock horse, and rodeo entries all managed without switching systems.
  • Choose the right entry format. From stock draws to scholastic-style random draws, the platform adapts to how your competition actually runs.
  • Scale up or down. Deliver a consistent experience, whether it's a local schooling show or a national championship.
  • Stay ahead of what's next. Youth rodeo and Little Britches-style support is coming. Getting familiar with the platform now puts you in a strong position.

We're passionate about providing a platform that helps the horse community thrive, and we can't wait to share what's next.
